Join us at Greenwood Furnace State Park at 7:30 pm on Saturday, August 30, at the Blacksmith shop, for a program on invasive species. Do you remember an episode of the 1960s “Star Trek,” when an animal removed from its native environment – the tribbles - was introduced into a new environment – the space station and Enterprise - where there were no natural predators, and how they wreaked havoc and over-ran the environment. This is what often happens in real life. From the Gypsy Moth to the Emerald Ash Borer, these pests were introduced, and in a short time their numbers exploded, causing much damage to the environment. Controlling them becomes a daunting task. Come and learn about our real life “Tribble-makers!”
