SHOW ME THE COUNTY!

A contest for the best short video about Huntingdon County.

Hoss's Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau Juniata College KIZ

Maybe you love it here because the closest thing to rush hour is being behind a school bus in the morning, or because there are almost as many ways to volunteer as there are deer.  Maybe you live for Junk Day, or for letting the boat drift at sunset on the lake, or for the light displays that last from Halloween to Valentine’s Day.  Maybe it’s the frothing curl of the locomotive at East Broad Top, the fishing at the Little J, or the fact that downtown Huntingdon has the worlds only pet-and-musical instruments store.

Whatever it is you love about Huntingdon, whatever it is that defines our place here in the Alleghenies, let us see it.  Show us through your eyes – or your lens, to be more precise.

Huntingdon’s Partners in Economic Progress (PEP) is offering cash prizes for the best video of four (4) minutes or less that addresses life in Huntingdon County.  Judges will consider two categories, films by students under 18 and films in the general category, for people 18 and older.

Judges’ primary criteria will be creativity, storytelling and relevance to Huntingdon County.  Technique will be a secondary consideration.  The panel of judges will be Gabe Welsch – Juniata College AVP of Marketing, Audrey Kumpf, Marketing Specialist, Matt Price – Executive Director of the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau and Matt Rogowski – Owner of Rogowski Productions.

Cash prizes will be awarded for first and second place in each category.  First place winners will receive $500 and second place winners will receive $250.  The winning videos will be screened at the 2009 Huntingdon County Fair, details for which will be made available as the time nears.

Additionally, during the week of July 20-24, 2009 we will post a website to allow the general public to vote for the People’s Choice Award winning video.  The top 10 videos received will be posted online for viewing and we ask that you cast your vote for your favorite video.  The winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive a cash prize of $500 and the video will also be screened at the 2009 Huntingdon County Fair.

All entries must be received before July 1, 2009.  Video entries can be mailed or dropped off at the following location:
